As a freshman varsity football player, safety Dalton Harris looks to make an impact in his first season. He hopes that his fresh energy and dedicated teamwork can fill a role on the defense.

“I feel like my duty is to learn from the upper classmen and remain positive on the team whether we win or lose,” Harris said.

This season has been a learning experience for the several freshmen on varsity. They have been working to adjust to the new game speed at this level.

“I feel that each game for us is a positive step to build on, but we still have a lot to learn through the games we play,” he said. “We really need to concentrate on what the coaches teach us and learn from our mistakes.”

With a 5-0 in district play, they understand that it will take a lot more than talent to succeed in the playoffs.

“Our team understands that we need to improve, so we will strive to work harder in practice and hold one another accountable to achieving our goals,” he said.

The safety and his teammates are aiming to improve in the classroom and the field.

“We want to push each other in football and in life.”
